Three Green Pears

Image
This is the last of my pears in this series. This time I’m back to using the brushes and playing with the color green!  One of my most favorite colors ... and it’s no wonder since I am an earth sign. I am very happy with these most out of the whole series. Hope to be back again soon!  Until then ... Paint On! Connie

Three Red Pears

Continuing on with the pears.  These I painted just with a palette knife and changed the coloring to red … It was a bit of a challenge using just the palette knife but I am happy with the way they turned out. Until next time, Paint On! Connie

Pear study

Pears are another subject I love to paint. Started these today and am looking forward to exploring more tomorrow ... I’ve also been trying to doing some type of drawing or doodling every day. Until next time, Paint On! Connie

Birds & Blooms

Image
I spent most of the weekend working on small studies of 2 of my favorite subjects, birds and flowers, of course!  First was the magnolia, my favorite Spring flower.  Since our trip to Australia and with all the photos I took and have for inspiration, the second was the kookaburra.  He's just such a cute and interesting bird that I had to take time to study him a little further. I painted these studies on an 18" x 24" sheet of 140 lb. watercolor paper that I divided into 9 sections.  Following are my 3 most favorite of each of the subjects: The magnolias … and the kookaburra … Thanks for stopping by and hope to be able to share something else again soon with you.  Until then, Paint On! Just when you think all is lost ...

I started this painting a couple of days ago ... Seascape, Acrylic on canvas 30” x 40” I loved the clouds and was not sure what to do with the lower part at first. I had an idea of a beach scene in my mind but wasn’t sure how it would work out. I wasn’t happy with the water and decided to start covering certain parts with Thalo Blue and then all of a sudden I was liking what I was seeing! May make a few minor adjustments still but I will wait another day or two and see. Happy Painting!

A visit to the Art Institute of Chicago

It’s always fun to be a tourist in your own home city!  Had a wonderful morning with my honey strolling the galleries.
