Flowers, flowers & more flowers

Image
Been concentrating on abstracts and flower shapes of all kinds this past week. Some have been successful while others have been good but color is always a factor in how and what I paint. I definitely need to get more lighting into my space as I seem to be painting mostly at night and the colors are just not what I’m hoping to mix. Anyway, I had a few different paintings that I thought were great and one that I wasn’t sure what color to do the background in but finally finished that too. Hope to be back again soon!  Until next time ... Paint On! Connie

Another week gone by ... already!

I guess I shouldn’t complain since they say that time flies when you’re having fun!  I have been trying to keep up with my painting and drawing everyday, but think I missed 2 days this past week. Anyway, I started an abstract about three days ago. I forgot to take a photo after the first layer but following is the result after my second layer. I actually really like it. Hubby and my son said they liked it as well so I think I need to let it be for a bit and see how I feel in a week or so. Until next time ... Paint On! Connie

Practicing Painterly Strokes

Image
I have been trying to paint and/or draw something every day.  I’ve got a routine where I make myself a flavored coffee after dinner and then head out to the enclosed back porch (which is currently the room that I call my studio).  I’ll spend an hour or 2 out there with my headphones on playing whatever tunes I’m in the mood for and just see what happens. In the following canvas, I am trying to create a peony flower in as few strokes as possible. I’m happy with these and hope to be able to recreate them again at will.  Since practice makes perfect, I’m sure there will be many more I’ll have to paint before it is ingrained in my head and hand and won’t have to think about too much except for the colors that I’d like to use. Until next time ... Paint On! Connie

Spring Fling

Image
I’ve been dreaming of Spring and what I want to do in my garden in the coming year a lot lately. I am so over this winter and we are in for another round of that polar vortex in the coming week. I have also been going through and trying to sort all the loose papers and reference photos I have and of course, have an over abundance of flowers, gardens and bouquets.  I was pulling some of my favorites and they all were some type of late Winter and early Spring flowers.  The following is an abstract of those flowers and I’m really happy with the way it turned out! Spring Fling 12” x 12” acrylic on canvas ... Until next time ... Paint On! Connie
